Two (2) USC Mail facilities serving the USC-Columbia campus:
1600 Hampton Street
Inbound USPS
1st Class Mail / Flats / Parcels
Received in morning and afternoon Monday - Friday
Departments
- Sorted by Department
- Delivered twice daily by USC Postal Service route drivers
Student Box Numbers
- Sorted by box numbers and prepared for delivery to the USC Student
Mail Center located in Russell House
Express / Insured / Delivery Confirmation Mail / Parcels- Scanned into USPS system as delivered at the Hampton Street
facility
- Accountable items destined to departments are recorded into USC
Postal
Service ARRIVAL system and labeled with an internal barcode.
- A signature is required upon delivery.
Mail Processing / Dispatch and Intra-Campus Mail- All inbound mail received from the USPS each day is delivered by
the end of the same day.
- Intra-campus mail will be processed and dispatched by the end of
each business day.
- Only official USC mail will be processed in our mail facility for
dispatch.
- Personal mail received for processing will be returned to the
sender.
USC Student Mail Center Facility (Russell House – 1400 Greene St)
All mail and parcels received from the US Postal Service, UPS, FedEx
and DHL are processed the same day items are received from these
shippers upon arrival at Student Mail Center.
Delivery Notifications
- First Notification
Placed in student box on same day item arrives at Student Mail
Center.
- Second Notification
Second final delivery notices will be placed in the student’s mail
box if item has not been picked up by the following week.
- Final Notification
Student will have five (5) days after the final notification is
placed in their mail box to claim item before it is returned to the
sender.
A email notifications will also sent to the student’s
USC email
address as a courtesy reminder
1st Class Mail / Flats / Parcels
Received several times throughout the day Monday – Friday.
- Upon arrival at Student Mail Center, mail is dispatched to box
numbers.
- A Delivery Notice will be placed in the student’s box for items
too large to fit in mail box.
- Pictured ID, Delivery Notice and signature required for pickup.
Express / Insured / Delivery Confirmation Mail / Parcels- Scanned into USPS system as delivered at the Hampton Street
facility.
- Upon arrival at Student Mail Center, items are scanned into the
Student Mail Center’s ARRIVAL system as “Delivered”.
- A notice will be placed in the student’s mail box after the item
has been scanned into the ARRIVAL system. The delivery notice, a
pictured ID and signature will be required to claim the item.
NOTE: For security purpose USC Postal Service and Student Mail
Center personnel are not allowed to give out information regarding
your mail over the telephone. You must appear in person with the
proper identification at these mail facility locations to receive
information.
