The University of South Carolina established a Licensing and
Trademark program in 1983 to monitor the usage of its logos
and verbiage (words associated with the university). The
program is under the direction of the Office of Business
Affairs, Helen Zeigler Director, and is administered by Ken
Corbett (kenc@gwm.sc.edu).
WHAT ARE OUR TRADEMARKS?
Our trademarks include the "Block C", the Gamecock, the
University Seal, the University logo, and "Cocky", the
Gamecock mascot. Verbiage that is licensed and monitored
includes "USC", "University of South Carolina", "Gamecock",
or any variation, such as "South Carolina Gamecocks,
Carolina Gamecocks, or Fighting Gamecocks.
STUDENT ORGANIZATIONS - Licensing and Trademark
Information
Use of a University mark with a student organization name
implies association with the University. Therefore, only
those student organizations that are officially recognized
by the University are allowed to use USC trademarks in
conjunction with their organization's name.

LICENSING INFORMATION

handle all domestic licensing agreements for the University
